Honolulu Police Officer Decides to Get Vaccine to Save Job

(AP) — A Honolulu police officer says he decided to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to save his job. Cpl. Mark Kutsy tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he got the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine last week and returned to duty this week. He still doesn’t agree with getting vaccinated but decided it was the “lesser of two evils.” He didn’t want to get vaccinated because he rarely gets sick. The city’s vaccination policy doesn’t allow weekly testing for workers who decline to be vaccinated. The city says about 78% of police officers, 86% of firefighters and 71% percent of lifeguards and paramedics are vaccinated.
