HCCC Escapees Charged

Hawai‘i Island police have charged 23-year-old Jaymeson Kaimana Makio, of Honoka‘a, and 21-year-old Camilo Darien Moreno, of Holualoa after they escaped from the Hawai’i Community Correctional Center (HCCC) Hilo facility during morning hours on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

After conferring with Hawai‘i County prosecutors on Thursday, September 30, police detectives charged , each with a single count of second-degree escape. Bail was set at $10,000 each.

Makio and Moreno remain in police custody pending their initial court appearance scheduled for Friday, October 1, in Hilo District Court.
