(AP) — COVID-19 vaccinations for 5-to 11-year-olds are starting at some Hawaiʻi public schools. Kalihi Uka Elementary in Honolulu is the first Department of Education school to hold a vaccination clinic. About 60 students signed up. That’s about a quarter of the school’s eligible children. Parents need to sign consent forms for their children to be vaccinated. It is up to individual schools on whether parents will be allowed to accompany their child while they get their shots. Shots are also available at some doctor’s offices, pharmacies and larger vaccination sites. The Department of Health says 160 schools have expressed interest in holding clinics.
