As a result of the current weather system affecting Big Island, Hawaiʻi County has opened emergency shelters at community centers in Pāhala and Naʻālehu  in addition to one at the Keaʻau Armory.  Shelters are pet-friendly, but they are requesting that animals be contained by a crate or pet carrier. In addition, patrons are asked to bring enough supplies to sustain themselves, their pets, and other household members for a period of 24 hours.

For more information, contact the Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Administration at (808) 935-0031 or (808) 935-0032.
