First Hawaiʻi Island Baby of 2022 Born at Hilo Medical Center

The first Big Island baby of 2022 was born at 6:24 am on Saturday January 1, at Hilo Medical Center.  According to Hilo Medical Center, baby girl Pualena Na’au Ho’oki’eki’e Garcia-Lucero was born to Ceelyn Gali-Lucero and Jaisen Garcia. The newborn weighed 6 pounds and 13 ounces and measured 20.25 inches.

Nurses Jody Bergfeld and Anna Golden-Ka’au’a  cared for the family.
