(UPDATED)

Staffing issues related to high COVID-19 infection rates across Big Island have prompted the County to temporarily change regular services for  the Division of Vehicle Licensing and Registration.

As a result, the updated schedule below includes reduced services and closures of varying offices in Hilo, Kaʻū, and Waimea.

  • Hilo and Kaʻū Drivers Licensing Offices are currently closed expected to reopen Monday, January 10 for Hilo and Tuesday, January 11 for Kaʻū.
  • Waimea canceled all road tests scheduled for January 5.
  • The Hilo Vehicle Registration Office will remain open, pending staff availability. All appointments scheduled for January 5-7 will be rescheduled to either January 22 or 29. A representative from the division will be in contact with those who had pre-scheduled appointments to provide updated appointment dates and times.
