Hawai‘i Island police have initiated terroristic threatening cases in connection to threats received by personnel at Waiākea High School two days in a row.

On the morning of Wednesday, January 6, Hilo patrol officers responded to an anonymous phone call threatening a Waiākea High School faculty member. Police then initiated a terroristic threatening case and maintained a presence at the school.

After school dismissal on Thursday, January 6, Hilo patrol officers responded to another anonymous  threat against the school. A search of the campus found no unauthorized persons or weapons/devices.

Big Island police will be  at the school on Friday, January 7.

Police ask anyone who may have information regarding these threats to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or contact Detective Richard Itliong of the Area I Juvenile Aid Section at (808) 961-2278 or via email at richard.itliong@hawaiicounty.gov.
