On Sunday, January 9, HFD rescued a mid 30ʻs male who was stranded on the rocks at Lekeleke Bay aka “End of the World” in Kailua-Kona.

A press release from the Hawaiʻi County Fire Department said, witnesses saw the victim jump into the water to swim.  However due to large surf, he was unable to exit the water along the shoreline but was able to make it up to an outcropping of rocks where he was stranded.

The victim was safely rescued with the use of HFD chopper 2.  After being evaluated by Medic 12 personnel, it was determined that no EMS treatment or transport was needed.
