Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of February 7

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island for the week of February 7.  Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:

KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 117 and 118, Walua Road and Sunset Drive, through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing work.

 — MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 18 and 19, Volcano Road and Lehuanani Street, through Monday, Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing work.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, 1st Road and Volcano Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 90 and 92, Papalani Road and Ohia Malu Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

HONAUNAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 92 and 94, Ohia Malu Road and Ahe Kolo Place, through Monday, Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 6.7, Kopilimai Road and Kapue Bridge, on Monday, Feb. 7 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work. 

HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 15, Pua Street and Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Tuesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting. 

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, through Friday, Feb. 11, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work. 

HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

NINOLE TO PAPAALOA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 23, Hanamalo Lane and Hawaii Belt Road, through Monday, Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and mowing work. 

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 22.5, Hawaii Belt Road and Koi Loop, on Tuesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work. 

— PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, Feb. 7 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement improvements.

— MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 1 and 4, near Saddle Road, through Monday, Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, near Saddle Road, on Monday, Feb. 7 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 10, near Kohala Ranch Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

 

— AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

KAWAIHAE (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 5, Lele Naia Drive and Kohala Ranch Road, through Monday, Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.
