According to reports, Aaron Rodgers will agree to a four-year, $200 million deal that would make him the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The deal includes $153 million in guaranteed money.  Rodgers confirmed the news of his return to the Packers in a tweet; however he emphasized that a contract had not been signed or finalized.

Per NFL Network, the 38-year-old Rodgers had considered joining the Broncos, and was even mulling retirement, before opting to return to Green Bay.  The deal — if signed — would create enough cap room for the Packers to franchise tag star wideout Davante Adams and they are expected to do so. Rodgers has said in the past that Adams is the best teammate he’s ever played with.

Rodgers was recently awarded his fourth NFL MVP award (his second in a row), making him only the second player since the award’s inception in 1957 to win it more than three times. He’s the first player to win consecutive MVPs since Peyton Manning and only the fifth player overall, joining Manning, (2008-09), Brett Favre (1995-97), Joe Montana (1989-90) and Jim Brown (1957-58).

Rodgers is also coming off one of his best seasons ever, throwing for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns with only four interceptions; however, the Packers were eliminated in the divisional round by the 49ers.
