Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that 44 year-old Jennifer Conway of Kona, was charged for possession and the attempted distribution of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl and felon in possession of firearms offenses following her April 21 arrest at the Kona International Airport.

As the Complaint alleges, Conway was charged with 16 offenses including four counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree, three counts of Attempted Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree, two counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree, three counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree, Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia, Ownership or Possession of Firearm Prohibited, Ownership or Possession of Ammunition Prohibited, and Registration Mandatory. Review of court records indicates that Conway is currently on supervised release for another unrelated pending felony matter.

On Monday, April 25, Conway made her initial appearance in Kona District Court. Her bail was maintained at $412,000.00 and she was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on April 27, 2022.

The investigation was a joint effort by the Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Vice Section and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuting by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.

The charges are merely allegations, Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
