The UH Hilo athletic department placed fifth in the 2021-22 Pacific West Conference Commissioner’s Cup.

The competition is based upon the average finish of sports that the PacWest offers. Each school’s points are totaled and then divided by the number of PacWest athletic programs it offers, giving an overall average finish for the school. Three Commissioner’s Cup standings are released per year. The first set of standings summarizes the fall sports, the second adds in the winter sport points, and the final is the sum of all the sports which is released after the conclusion of spring sports.

UH Hilo’s standings have increased  over the past four years giving them their highest finish in the past decade.

This year the Vulcans received double digit points in the following sports:

  • Women’s Soccer (14 – PacWest Champions),
  • Men’s Tennis (12 – third place at PacWest Championships)
  • Volleyball (11 – fourth place in PacWest Conference),
  • Men’s Golf (11 – Second place at PacWest Championships)

The final 2021-22 PacWest Commissioner’s Cup standings grant Azusa Pacific their second-consecutive title with 13.38 points, followed by Biola (10.29 points), Point Loma (10.09 points), Concordia (9.54 points), UH Hilo (8.33 points), Fresno Pacific (8.21 points), ART U (7.75 points), Hawai’i Pacific (7.46 points), Dominican (5.46 points), Chaminade (4.10 points), and Holy Names (3.54 points).
