Hilo Community Playersʻ 45th Annual Shakespeare in the Park Festival Opens This Weekend

The Hilo Community Players will launch their 45th annual Shakespeare in the Park festival with a a presentation of “The Tempest” at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium parking lot from July 8-24 and then move to the Honoka’a Sports Complex from July 29-31.

“The Tempest” will be presented in a live drive-in format. The Players will appear live on a raised stage before an audience watching from the distanced safety of their cars– even tuning into the show’s sound via a short-range radio transmission.  Those who wish to bring seating will be able to place folding chairs and picnic blankets in front of the stage.  Audio will be pumped through loudspeakers.

The free event begins at 7:30pm is open to all ages.
