The Seattle Mariners won its 14th straight game Sunday, moving one game shy of the franchise record set in 2001. The 6-2 victory over the Rangers on Sunday gave Seattle 22 wins in its last 25 games heading into the All-Star break. Half of the Mariners’ 14 victories during this winning streak have come in one-run games, including two wins in extra innings. The 2001 Mariners, owners of the 15-game franchise record streak, went on to win 116 games to tye the MLB record.

The Mariners sit nine games back from the Astros in the American League West with a 51-42 record, and are currently in possession of the second wild-card spot, just a half-game back of the Rays. After the All-Star break, the Mariners will have seven games against the Astros before Aug. 1, and their next opportunity to tie the franchise record will come on July 22 against Houston.
