Yesterday morning, Hawaiʻi County firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the 1929 Historic Holualoa Theatre.  The structure was fully engulfed with heavy smoke and visible flames when fire crews arrived.

The building, owned by Merner Land Co., was the home to the Hōlualoa Artist Colony and Mi Taqueria Potosina.

Company 7, 12 and 21 firefighters protected the exposures and extinguished the blaze. No occupants were on the scene at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
