The Area I Criminal Investigation Section is continuing to investigate a fatal shooting incident that killed a 12 year-old boy at the Camp Honokaia Boy Scout Camp on Sunday August 28.

Interviews with children and adults present at the time of the incident are on-going. The case is currently classified as a coroner’s inquest.  Police do not suspect foul play.

Results of an autopsy performed earlier this week reveal the child died as a result of a single gunshot wound.

Police are asking for anyone with information on this incident, or who may have not yet been interviewed by police, to contact the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311, or Detective Jeremy Kubojiri of the Area I Criminal Investigation Section, at (808) 961-2378 or via email at Jeremy.Kubojiri@hawaiicounty.gov.
