U.S. Navy Rear Adm. John Wade has been appointed Commander of the Joint Task Force responsible for the safe defueling and closure of the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility on Oʻahu.

RADM Wade’s sole responsibility is to ensure the Department’s safe and expeditious defueling of the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility.  He will work closely with the Hawaiʻi Department of Health,  the Environmental Protection Agency and the community while making environmentally-protective decisions.
