The public is invited to appear as audience members in the finale scene of the documentary “Shaka, A Story of Aloha” taking place from 5:30pm to 8pm on Wednesday October 19 at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oʻahu.

Audience members will be filmed, so those not wishing to be recorded should not attend.

The event will include a premiere-style red carpet experience, luau dinner by Polynesian Cultural Center, a live show themed as a shaka contest, and a musical appearance by Henry Kapono,  A limited number of seats priced at $225 (premium) and $175 (general) are available at shakacon2022.eventbrite.com,

In a press release the film’s producer Steve Sue said, “The Shaka contest scene is the capstone of a picture that started out as a simple documentary but has turned into a movement to share aloha with the world.  We’re beyond excited to see this project wrap photography, get on to music with Henry [Kapono] and deliver a rough cut by January 2023. From there, we head to festivals and ultimately release starting with Kamehameha School classrooms and hopefully beyond through various forms of online distribution. We’re stoked with what we’ve captured so far and can’t wait to share the power of Shaka with the world.”

The film “Shaka, A Story of Aloha” was first-funded by Kamehameha Schools and is produced by Bizgenics 501C3 in association with Kapono, Inc. and Sight & Sound Productions.  For more information visit ProjectShaka.com.
