As of 8:00 pm yesterday, the Hawaiʻi County Fire Department reported a brush fire in the vicinity of Maile Street near Pahala in the Kaʻū District. At that time, the fire had been estimated to be 66 acres in size. Two houses on Maile Street were evacuated as a precaution and Maile Street was closed to Kaalaki Road.   Firefighters were on scene through the night to monitor the fire.
