The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of December 12, 2022. Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:
VOLCANO ROAD/ MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
KEAAU
Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 6 and 9, in the vicinity of Kipimana Street and North Road, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting.
KEAAU
Shoulder closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 8 to 8.01, in the vicinity of Keaau 9 ½ Mile Cp, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for replacement and installation of signs at various locations.
KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
HONALO
Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile marker 113.9 and 114, vicinity of Honalo Road, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Kuakini Drainage Improvements.
BAYFRONT HIGHWAY/ HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)
HONOMU
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 12 and 14, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.
WAILEA (WEEKEND/ WEEKLY WORK)
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 14.2 and 14.4 on Saturday, Dec. 10, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for Kolekole Stream Bridge emergency repair work.
PAPAALOA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 24, vicinity of Kapehu Road and Papaa Loa Ave, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and grass cutting.
QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)
KAILUA-KONA
Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 96 and 97.5 in the vicinity of Kealakehe Parkway to Ala Nui Kaloko, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for cleaning of culverts and drains along the highway.
KAUPULEHU
Right side shoulder closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) in the southbound direction between mile markers 84 to 84.2, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for solar panel removal and repair along the highway.
WAIKOLOA
Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 67 and 75, in the vicinity of Waikoloa Road and Kawaihae Road, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.
KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD/HAWI ROAD (ROUTE 250)
KOHALA
Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 9 and 13 on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road resurfacing.
KOHALA/HAWI (WEEKEND WORK)
Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road/Hawi Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 19.2, vicinity of Puuhue Road and Akoni Pule Highway, on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting, shoulder work, and pothole patching.
KOHALA/HAWI
Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road/Hawi Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 18, vicinity of Puuhue Road and Red Cinder Road, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscape maintenance and shoulder work.
DKI HIGHWAY/ SADDLE ROAD (ROUTE 200)
NOTE: DKI, is a No parking zone between mile marker 16 and the Highway’s junction with Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190). In addition to these measures on DKI Highway, parking is prohibited on the shoulders of Mauna Kea Access Road due to fire concerns.
