The Solid Waste Division of the Department of Environmental Management is currently offering tree-cycling to residential customers through January 15, 2023 (excluding January 1).

Holiday trees and kadomatsu decorations can be taken to the the following Recycling & Transfer stations:

Kealakehe (Kailua-Kona), Ke‘ei, Kea‘au, Pāhoa, Volcano, and Waimea from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on regular greenwaste collection days.

The East Hawai‘i Organics Facility (EHOF) in Hilo from 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily).

The West Hawai‘i Organics Facility (WHOF) in Pu‘uanahulu Mondays through Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.).

Customers interested in solely recycling holiday trees, can proceed directly to the East Hawai‘i Organics Facility (EHOF) and tree-cycling area as there is no need to go to the County scale house, as typically required. Residential loads with both greenwaste and holiday trees must go to the County scale house to be weighed. All commercial haulers or holiday tree collectors must proceed to the County scale house before recycling.

For more information, please visit: Hawaiizerowaste.org or call the Solid Waste Division at 808-961-8270
