As of 5am this morning, Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense is alerting the public that the emergency siren heard in Hilo at 4:53am this morning was due to a malfunction.  There was no emergency

Hawaii State Emergency Management Agency and Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency are investigating the cause of this false siren sounding.
