Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 9

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of January 9, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 16 and 18, in the vicinity of N. Peck Road to Mauna Loa Drive, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK TO PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 30 and 51.3, from the vicinity of Volcanoes National Park to Kamani Street, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of cables on existing utility poles.

NORTH OF PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 42 and 45, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HONUAPO TO NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 59 and 61, vicinity of Whittington Beach Park, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KEALAKEKUA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 111 and 112, Konawaena School Road to Puu Pueo Road, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

HONALO

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile marker 114, near West Honalo Road, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Kuakini Drainage Improvements.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 11 and 13, vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Road (near Makea Stream) and Honomu Road, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting 

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 28, Kapehu Road to vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving.

QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

 KOHALA TO WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 67 and 71, in the vicinity of Kawaihae Road and Hapuna Beach Road, Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting and removal.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 5, vicinity of Waimea-Kohala Airport Road and the Saddle Road junction, on Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
