Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 16

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of January 16, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.  There will be no lane closures on Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Route 130, Keaau-Pahoa Road Northbound Contraflow will not operate on this day as well.

 

VOLCANO ROAD/MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 22 and 25, in the vicinity of Kahaualea Road and Nahelenani Street, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK TO PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 30 and 51.3, from the vicinity of Volcanoes National Park to Kamani Street, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of cables on existing utility poles.

NORTH OF PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 45 and 47, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

HONALO

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile marker 114, near West Honalo Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Kuakini Drainage Improvements.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU TO PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 8 and 11, vicinity of Hanawi Street and Old Mamalahoa Road (near Makea Stream), on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting.

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 28, Kapehu Road to vicinity of Stevens Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving.

QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)

KIHOLO BAY

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 80 and 82, in the vicinity of the Kiholo State Park Reserve, Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for shoulder work.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 9, vicinity of the Saddle Road junction, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 34 and 37, Iki Place to Paliholo Street, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Jan. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
