UH Hilo basketball players Erik Borg, Mandi Kawaha and Bree Olson were named to the 2022–23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams.

The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have been a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and completed one full calendar year at his or her current institution.

Erik Borg is a kinesiology and exercise sciences major who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.89 in the fall 2022 semester.

Mandi Kawaha and Bree Olson garnered cumulative GPAs of 3.8 and 3.9, respectively. Kawaha is a double major in kinesiology and exercise sciences and communication. Olson is currently studying administration of justice after earning a BA in kinesiology and exercise sciences last spring.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have been a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and completed one full calendar year at his or her current institution.

The honorees will now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in March.
