Yesterday afternoon, HFD and HPD members responded to Anaeho’omalu Bay after receiving a report of a male swimmer who suffered a shark bite.

He was brought on board a commercial vessel, where basic medical care was being applied. Ocean Safety personnel then brought him onshore to an HFD Medic. He was later transported to the North Hawai’i Community Hospital in serious condition and was treated.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
