Artist Bruna Stude’s new exhibition, “The Time that Remains,” is currently on view at the East Hawai’i Cultural Center through May 26.

Stude’s large-scale installations document the fragility and vulnerability of threatened habitats. Her work integrates personal photographs, found images she alters, and Anna Atkins-inspired plant photograms.

Stude, who currently lives on Kau’ai, was born in Croatia in 1958 and grew up on the Dalmatian Coast. While most of her career was spent documenting marine life, she later became a self-taught artist. She creates her work in an indoor-outdoor wilderness space surrounding her home, a process that brings nature into her darkroom, and rinses developed images in the rain, allowing nature to become part of the creative process.

For more information, visit ehcc.org, call 961-5711, or visit EHCC at 141 Kalākaua Street.  The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday.
