An elderly Kailua-Kona man died following a single-bicycle collision on Hinalani Street in North Kona. On Sunday, May 21, responding HPD officers determined that a silver Dean Titanium Road bicycle was heading west on the right shoulder of Hinalani Street when it crashed. The elderly cyclist, who has not been positively identified, was transported to Kona Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash, however an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
