Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of May 29

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of May 29, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. There will be no work today in observance of Memorial Day. All projects are weather permitting

MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 17, between South Lauko Road and South Oshiro Road on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 58 and 61 in the vicinity of Whittington Beach Park on Tuesday, May 30 through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 89 and 91, between Ohia Malu Road and Kaohe Road on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 114 and 116, between West Honalo Road and Walua Road on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

HONALO

Single lane close on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Nahenahe Loop and Hooper Road on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Kuakini drainage improvements.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HILO

Single lane closure on either side of Hawaii Belt (Route 19) and Old Mamalahoa Highway on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for installation of a speed hump.

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 9, between Kahoa Place and Onohi Loop, on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NINOLE TO PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 18 and 20, between Hanamalo Lane and Kapehu Road, on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 28, between Kapehu Road and Stevens Road, on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for road resurfacing.

HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction at Kalopa Road on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. HECO will be replacing substandard utility poles and restringing overhead lines.

 

KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 60 and 64, between Ohina Street and Waiula Drive on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on KKawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 10 and 14, in the vicinity of Puuhue Road on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0 and 2, between Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) and Keaau-Pahoa Road, on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for excavator cleaning behind guardrails.

PAHOA BYPASS ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA

Single lane closure possible in either direction at Post Office Road from Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:340 p.m. as crews install a speed hump.

PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kaalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 12 and 15, between Pahoa-Kapoho Road and Alalii Road, on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for vegetation cutting.

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kaalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 17, between Leilani Avenue and Alalii Road, on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for vegetation cutting.

MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 17 and 26, in the vicinity of Puu Lani Drive on Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for installation of shoulder extension.
