The State of Hawai‘i’s Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) recently released its May 2023 visitor statistics report.

During Hawai‘i’s recent shoulder period, which includes the timeframe between the islands’ busier winter and summer seasons for travel, total visitor spending continued to increase notably while visitor arrivals were down. In May 2023, total visitor spending was $1.69 billion (+19.%) while visitor arrivals decreased by 5.4 percent as compared to May 2019.
