Big Island Lane Closures: Week of July 17

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of July 17, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 52 and 53 in the vicinity of Maile Street on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 95 and 97, between Kukui O Pae and Haleili Street on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for tree trimming and vegetation cutting.

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

HONALO

Single lane close on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between Trousseau Road and Kahili Drive on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Kuakini drainage improvements.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HAKALAU TO NINOLE

Single lane closure possible in either direction between mile markers 16 and 18 at Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) at Leopolino Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for repaving work.

 HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction at Kalopa Road on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. HECO will be replacing substandard utility poles and restringing overhead lines.

 KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 65 and 67, between Kawaihae Road and Queen Kaahumanu Highway on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route250) possible in either direction between mile markers 6 and 11, in the vicinity of Kohala Ranch Road on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstruction of a weakened shoulder.

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 7, between Kaewa Place and Kohala Ranch Road on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

HONOKAA

Single lane closure possible in either direction between mile markers 51 and 54 at Mamalahoa Highway (Route 19) at Old Mamalahoa Highway and Iokua Place on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for repaving work.

MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 32 and 34, between Makalei Drive and Iki Place on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 17 and 26, in the vicinity of Puu Lani Drive on Monday, July 17, through Friday, July 21, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for safety improvement, shoulder strengthening, and extension work.
