Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of September 18

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of September 18, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO
Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street on Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday Sept. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for traffic light cameras.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD / KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19)

HAKALAU TO NINOLE
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 15.7 and 17.8, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, on Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for repaving work.

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27, in the vicinity of Koi Loop and Stevens Road, on Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installing roadway markers.

HONOKAA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 36 and 39, in the vicinity of Chopper Boulevard, on Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping of the roadway.

HONOKAA TO KAMUELA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Mud Lane and Iokua Place on Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for paving work.


MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 


KAMUELA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Road (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.9 and 3.9, in the vicinity of Lalamilo Farm Road, beginning Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping the road.

KALAOA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 16.9 and 26, beginning Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for crews to work on highway safety improvements, strengthening and extending shoulders.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA
Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, beginning Monday, Sept. 18, through Friday, Sept. 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.
