Three Hawaiʻi Island residents were honored by Pacific Business News as members of the 2023 cohort of Hawaiʻi’s Most Admired Leaders.  The prestigious recognition celebrates exceptional executives who have demonstrated a profound impact within their organizations and communities.

The following individuals have been recognized for their contributions to Hawaiʻi Island through their dedication, innovation, and leadership within their respective organizations and communities:

  • Breeani Sumera-Lee, Executive Director, Hawaiʻi Rise Foundation
  • Rich Matsuda, Interim Observatory Director, W.M. Keck Observatory
  • Dr. Sulma Gandhi, Hawaiʻi Health Program Officer, Stupski Foundation

Breeani, Rich, and Sulma are among the distinguished group of twenty-seven executives selected for their outstanding efforts in making Hawaiʻi a better place through their professional and community efforts.

The 2023 honorees represent a diverse range of industries, including nonprofits, education, health care, and real estate.

In a statement Mayor Mitch Roth said, “These honorees exemplify the values and qualities that make our community stronger and more vibrant. Their commitment to positive change and their tireless efforts to improve the lives of our residents are truly admirable. We are immensely proud of their achievements.”

The 2023 Most Admired Leaders awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 9, at the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach.
