Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of November 20

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of November 20, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. There will be no closures and HOV/Contraflow operations, on Thursday Nov. 23 in observance of Thanksgiving Day. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mahalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 56 to 58 on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between Ke Alanui O Aoi Kona Road and Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday Nov. 22, and Friday Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and drainage cleaning.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 104 and 107, in the vicinity of Rabbit Hill Road, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday Nov. 22, and Friday Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a contractor to clear a fire break.

 HAWAII BELT ROAD / KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU

Alternating single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge on Monday, Nov. 20 through Friday, Nov. 24 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., to address a dip in the northbound lane approaching Kapue bridge.

 PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and applying new reflective markers.

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 24 and 28, in the vicinity of Papaa Loa Avenue, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 andFriday, Nov. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

PAAUILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 36 and 39.8, in the vicinity of Hale Hookipa Place and Chopper Boulevard, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and replacing reflective markers.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Mud Lane and Iokua Place on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving work.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 62 and 67, in the vicinity of Kahinu Place, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m for vegetation cutting.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 1 and 3, in the vicinity of Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a contractor to clear a fire break.

KALAOA

Shoulder closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 32.5 and 33.5, in the vicnity of Mahilani Drive and Kalaoa Street, beginning Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Geolabs to take samples for a future project.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 4 to 9 on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Ilina Road and Maluhia Road on Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
