Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of November 27

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of November 27, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 20 to 22, in the vicinity of South Glenwood Road, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for roadway repairs. 

  

CAPTAIN COOK 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 100 and 103, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for firebreak vegetation cutting.  

  

CAPTAIN COOK 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 101 and 102, in the vicinity of Ke Alanui O Aoi Road and Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday Dec. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

  

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD / KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19)  

 PAPAIKOU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.  

  

HONOMU TO HAKALAU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 13.25 and 14, in the vicinity of Honomu Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for roadway repairs due to dip in the roadway. 

  

HAKALAU  

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 15 and 16, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway and Leopolino Road on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for roadway repairs. 

 

NINIOLE TO PAPAALOA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 21 and 24, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

 

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and applying new reflective markers. 

   

PAAUILO 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 36 and 39.8, in the vicinity of Hale Hookipa Place and Chopper Boulevard, on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and replacing reflective markers. 

  

KAMUELA  

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Mud Lane and Iokua Place on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and replacing of reflective markers. 

  

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

KEAAU 

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 4 and 6, in the vicinity of Orchid Land Drive, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  

  

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAMUELA 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 2 and 6, in the vicinity of Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for firebreak cutting. 

 

KAMUELA  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 5 and 6, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  

  

KALAOA  

Shoulder closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 32.5 and 33.5, in the vicinity of Mahilani Drive and Kinoulu Street, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Geolabs to take samples for a future project. 

  

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250)   

KAMUELA  

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder. 

  

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

HAWI 

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Ilina Road and Maluhia Road on Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

  

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO 

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0 and 2, in the vicinity of Railroad Avenue and Melani Street, beginning Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for roadway repairs.
