Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of December 4

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of December 4, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11)

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 20 to 22, in the vicinity of South Glenwood Road, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for pavement repairs.

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 44 to 46, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for fire break clearing.

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 53 to 55, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD / KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge beginning Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kaaukai Place and Onohi Loop beginning Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

NINIOLE TO PAPAALOA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 20 and the vicinity of Middle Road, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and applying new reflective markers.

 

PAAUILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 36 and 39.8, in the vicinity of Hale Hookipa Place and Chopper Boulevard, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping and replacing reflective markers.

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 62 in the vicinity of Kahinu Place and mile post 66, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for fire break vegetation cutting.

 

 

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 4 and 6, in the vicinity of Orchid Land Drive, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 4 and 7, on Monday, Dec.4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for fire break clearing.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 5 and 6, on Monday, Dec.4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 4 and 10, on Monday, Dec.4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for fire break cutting

 

KALAOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 16.92 and 26.02, beginning Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing new striping and reflective markers.

 

KALAOA

Shoulder closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 33 and 33.5, beginning Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for soil borings.

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, on Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.
