42 year-old Robin C. Nakapa‘ahu of Puna was arrested and charged in relation to a December 12, 2023 Orchidland Drive incident

Police report that Nakapa‘aha, whom was nude at the time, assaulted three individuals including a male party over the age of sixty.

On Wednesday, Nakapa‘ahu made his initial appearance in Hilo District Court where his bail was maintained at $25,000.00 and he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing today.

As the Complaint alleges, Nakapa‘ahu was charged with Assault in the Second Degree (intentionally and/or knowingly caused bodily injury to a person sixty years of age or older), three counts of Assault in the Third Degree (intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly caused bodily injury to another person), Unauthorized Entry Into a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, and Open Lewdness. Assault in the Second Degree and Unauthorized Entry Into a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree are class C felony offenses which carry a penalty of either five years in prison or four years probation and up to twelve months in jail.

The charges are merely allegations and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The felony investigation was led by Officer Jason Miyashiro and assisted by Officers Michael Sailer and Alipate Moleni of the Hawaiʻi County Police Department’s Puna Patrol.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Asia Howe.
