Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of January 8

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 8, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 7.25 to 7.36, in the vicinity of Keaau Pahoa Road, on Monday, Jan. 8 through Thursday, Jan. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping of crosswalks, lane lines and directional arrows.

 

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 54 to 58 in the vicinity of Kaalaiki Road, on Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between Ohana Road and Papalani Road, on Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD(ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kahoa Place and Kaapoko Homestead Road beginning Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting around guardrails.

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge beginning Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new roadway striping and  reflective markers.

 

 

QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Ala Nui kaloko and Palani Road on Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for yearly drainage cleaning.

 

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 0 and 5, in the vicinity of Hawaii Belt Road and Puakalo Street, on Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and guardrail cleaning.

 

  MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 6 and 8, beginning Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder work.

PUUANAHULU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 16.9 and 26.02, beginning Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for application of new striping and reflective markers on the roadway.

 

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, Monday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 12 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.
