Nighttime runway work is scheduled to take place at Hilo International Airport (ITO) for paving and repair on Tuesday, January 9.

From 9pm to 5am, ITO’s runway 8/26 will be closed. Additional runway closure may be needed during the same hours on Wednesday, January 10 if the work is not completed on January 9. All work is weather permitting.

The Department of Transportation’s decision to schedule this maintenance work during evening hours was to minimize impacts to air travelers and airline operations, and reduce the project duration to the extent possible.
