Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of January 29

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 29, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11)

MOUNTAIN VIEW  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 14.5 to 17, in the vicinity of Nichols Road, on Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting 

 

PAHALA 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 54 to 55, on Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday Feb. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

 

CAPTAIN COOK 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 89 and 92, beginning Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 PAPAIKOU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge beginning Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.  

 

HAKALAU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 15.5 and 17.6, beginning Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the application of new lane striping and reflective markers.  

 

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new roadway striping and reflective markers. 

  

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

PUUANAHULU  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 16.9 and 26.02, beginning Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of new striping and reflective markers on the roadway.  

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250

 

KAMUELA 

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder. 

 

KAMUELA 

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 9 and 14, on Monday, Jan. 27 through Friday, Feb. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
