AP) — Japanese Americans who were incarcerated on U.S. soil during World War II are being commemorated at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. A massive book, called the Ireichō, lists the names of the more than 125,000 people who were detained in the camps nationwide. It will be on display at the museum until Dec. 1. Visitors can honor detainees by leaving by a mark under their names using a Japanese stamp called a hanko. The project was conceived by a team of researchers led by a Buddhist priest at the University of Southern California and took more than three years to complete.
