The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the State of Hawaiʻi as well as Hawaiʻi Island.

A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding, however it may not occur.

Due to the Flood Watch the public is advised of the following:

  • Thunderstorms will produce heavy rains, high winds and lightning.
  • Residents in flood prone areas should be prepared for heavy rains and potential flooding
  • Road closures may occur without notice
  • Individuals should not attempt to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot.
  • If lightning poses a threat, the safest place to be is indoors.
