The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of August 12, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. There will be no lane closures or contraflow operations on Friday, Aug. 16 in observance of Statehood Day, unless otherwise permitted.

 

KANOELEHUA AVENUE /MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

HILO  

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 4 to 7, in the vicinity of Lama Street and Old Volcano Road, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  

 

PAHALA  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 47 to 49, beginning Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass and vegetation cutting.  

 

  HAWAII BELT ROAD/ QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 15 to 20, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, beginning Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  

 

KAILUA KONA 

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 94.4 to 95.2, in the vicinity of Kohanaiki Golf and Ocean Club, on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for surveying for future projects.  

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 27 to 29, beginning Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder work and vegetation cutting.  

 

KEALAKEHE PARKWAY (ROUTE 197)

Single lane closure on Kealakehe Parkway (Route 197) possible in either direction between mile post 0.17 to 0.40, in the vicinity of Kamanu Street, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving of new bike lane and signage installations. 

 

 DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200)   

HILO 

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 10.29 to 12.29, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers.  

 

HILO 

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 17.3 to 20.8, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers.

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 18 to 22, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for shoulder work. 

 

AKAKA FALLS ROAD (ROUTE 220)

Single lane closure on Akaka Falls Road (Route 220) possible in either direction, between mile post 3.5 to 3.7, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. where crews will be transitioning a residential roadway into State Highway 220. 

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA  

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Monday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.
