Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a reported robbery at a Kailua-Kona bank.

Yesterday afternoon, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of an active robbery at a bank on Palani Road and determined that a male suspect had entered the establishment and produced a note demanding money. He then fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one in the bank was physically injured.

After further investigation, police identified the suspect as 44-year-old Brandan Patrick Nicholson, of Kailua-Kona who was located nearby and placed under arrest.

The Area II Criminal Investigation Section is continuing to investigate this incident.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this investigation to call Detective Len Hamakado of the Area II Criminal Investigation Section at (808) 326-4646, Ext. 224, or via email at len.hamakado@hawaiicounty.gov.
