Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of September 2

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of September 2, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. In observance of Labor Day there will be no lane closures or HOV/Contraflow Lane operations on September 2.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

KEAAU TO KURTISTOWN 

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 7 to 10, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and Hale Pule Loop, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD/ KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19)   

 HAKALAU TO NINOLE 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 17.6 to 18.5, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Opea and Waikaumalo Bridge maintenance repairs.  

 

HAKALAU TO NINOLE 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 18 to 19, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

 

KAMUELA 

Shoulder closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 58 to 59, in the vicinity of Kohala Mountain Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetaion cutting and shoulder work. 

 

 KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130)  

KEAAU (NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 3.8 to 5.1, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for restriping the intersection of Keaau-Pahoa Road and Shower Drive.Details: https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/night-work-for-restriping-on-keaau-pahoa-road-at-shower-drive/

 

KEALAKEHE PARKWAY (ROUTE 197) 

KAILUA KONA 

Single lane closure on Kealakehe Parkway (Route 197) possible in either direction between mile post 0.17 to 0.40, in the vicinity of Kamanu Street, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving of new bike lane and signage installations. 

 

 

DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200) 

HILO 

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 10.29 to 12.29, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers.  

 

HILO 

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 17.3 to 20.8, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers. 

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA  

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.  

 

    PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO (NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 6, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving the roadway as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
