Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of September 23

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of September 23, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 13 to 15, in the vicinity of Enos Road and North Kopua Road, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NAALEHU TO WAiOHINU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 62 to 69 on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and the Filipino Clubhouse, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for highway safety improvements.

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Bayfront Highway/Kamehameha Avenue (Route 19) possible in either direction,  in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Haili Street, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drilling and sampling pavement cores.

PEPEEKEO TO HONOMU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 10 to135, in the vicinity of Kulaimano Road, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 17.62 to 17.65, in the vicinity of Opea Bridge on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge maintenance.

HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 40 to 42, in the vicinity of dGravity Road on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 53 to 56, in the vicinity of Nani Waimea Street and Kinohou Street, on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder work.

 KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 3.8 to 5.1, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for restriping the intersection of Keaau-Pahoa Road and Shower Drive. Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 25 to 27, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200) 

POHAKULOA

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 18 to 21, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction, between mile post 6 to 12, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

  PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving the roadway as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
