U.S. News & World Report College Rankings recently placed UH Hilo among the nation’s top universities for inclusivity.

Ranked as one of the most ethnically diverse universities in the country, UH Hilo earned a diversity index score of 0.76, just behind institutions like Stanford and Johns Hopkins.

In addition to its diversity, UH Hilo ranked No. 111 nationally (and first in the state) for social mobility, reflecting its success in helping students from underrepresented communities overcome barriers and achieve academic and career success. Its support for first-generation economically disadvantaged students reinforces its role in promoting upward mobility in Hawaiʻi.

UH Hilo also ranked No. 188 among top public universities, reaffirming its dedication to academic excellence. Nationally recognized programs like the School of Nursing, College of Business and Economics, and Department of Psychology prepare graduates for key roles in healthcare and business, strengthening Hawaiʻi’s workforce and driving economic growth.
