Hilo Community Players will be holding auditions for this year’s production of “A Christmas Carol” at the UH Hilo Old Gym on October 13 and 14.
Auditioners should come arrive dressed for movement and expect readings from the script in addition to preparing at least 16 bars of a song which best highlights their vocal abilities. A pianist will be provided. Sheet music will be accepted, however musical tracks will not be permitted.
Resumes and headshots are encouraged but not required.
Attendees need only attend one day of auditions to be considered.
Available roles include:
- Scrooge – A man who is grumpy, unsympathetic man and has no time for anyone or anything.
- Mr. Cratchit – A father and husband who cares deeply for his family, particularly his youngest son.
- Mrs. Cratchit – Tiny Tim’s mother and Mr. Cratchit’s wife. She is a loving but poor mother.
- Tiny Tim – Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit’s youngest son. He is sick and walks with a limp, but is cheerful.
- Fred – Scrooge’s nephew. He is a pleasant young man who has a joyful Christmas spirit.
- Ghost Of Christmas Present – A jovial, larger-than-life ghost who comes back to show Scrooge what he is missing.
- Ghost Of Christmas Past – An ever cheerful, sprightly ghost who comes back with the history book of Scrooge’s past.
- Ghost Of Christmas Future – A beautiful, and terrifying wrath, the Ghost of Christmas Future is strong and silent.
- Marley – Scrooge’s former business partner.
- Emily – Scrooge’s fiancé from when they were young.
- Mrs. Fezziwig – The consummate hostess loves to throw the Christmas party every year.
- Mr. Fezziwig – A jolly man who, with his wife, throws a huge Christmas party every year for the community.
- And various other characters including –
Scrooge’s Mother, Young Scrooge, Charity Elves, Bankers, Street Vendors, Sailors, Ghosts, Jailers, Clerks
