The New York Mets eliminated the Philadelphia Phillies with a 4-1 win in Game 4 of the NLDS, advancing them to the National League Championship Series.

Francisco Lindor hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to help secure the Mets victory over the Phillies on Wednesday at home.  Mets slugger Pete Alonso said during an on-field interview: “Let’s keep this thing rolling! So proud of this group. We’ve overcome so much.”  Mets’ outfielder Brandon Nimmo added in a clubhouse interview: “This is the kind of stuff that I was dreaming about. This has been a long time coming. We wanted it so bad for our fan base.”

New York will open the best-of-seven NLCS on Sunday against either the San Diego Padres or the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The LA Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 8-0 in Game 4 on Wednesday at Petco Park to even their NLDS series at 2-2, and force a series-deciding fifth game at Dodger Stadium on Friday.

Mookie Betts homered for the second straight night and Shohei Ohtani hit an RBI single, with Will Smith and Gavin Lux each hitting a two-run homer for the Dodgers, who snapped their two-game losing streak against their NL West rivals.

The series between the Padres and Dodgers moves back to Los Angeles for Game 5 on Friday.
