The Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the recent stabbing of an inmate at the Halawa Correctional Facility on Oʻahu. The victim, who was found dead in his cell, was a 59-year-old Japanese national who was serving time for two 1994 shooting deaths.

It is believed the victim was stabbed to death by his cellmate.

A weapon was recovered nearby.
